Yesterday was a day for our Nation to remember those that were lost 8 years ago. For many this remembrance was a day of sadness, mourning and sorrow. For me, it just made me angry... I was angry 8 years ago and I am just as angry, if not more so, now than ever. Angry about how our country changed that day. Angry for the loss of life, security and for the loss of peace of mind.
Today while walking, listening to my ipod, Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue" also known as "The Angry American" song came on and chills covered my body. No kidding.. The whole song just brings tears of pride to my eyes.
"My daddy served in the army,
Where he lost his right eye.
But he flew a flag out in our yard 'til the day that he died.
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy in the land of the free."
I know it might sound odd that one would cry to a song about fighting back and not backing down but I do and will for a long time. See, I am a proud ANGRY AMERICAN... It saddens me that so many fail to see or maybe choose not to see what 9/11 really did to our country. How I worry that my children's lives will not be the vision I had just a few years ago. How our government is failing us faster than ever before and so few really care. How our government seems to have FORGOTTEN what happened and even more frightening, they have forgotten WHO DID THIS TO US. And the media... the "news" that never reports the good that is being done, the progress and hope that is being restored to the Middle East. That we are still actively fighting this enemy and soldiers are still dying for our freedom. Instead they report about one soldier who misbehaved.. or one unit that acted inappropriately. I am sick of it personally. What happened to our UNIFIED Country? what happened to fighting this enemy as a country ?? now we just fight each other?
I don't need reminding of 9/11. My family and friends live it everyday.
"Oh, Justice will be served and the battle will rage.
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage
You'll be sorry that you messed with the US of A
'Cuz we'll put a boot in your ass
It's the American way."
This phrase sums up how I feel about the past 8 years... and it happens to be the phrase that pissed of a few liberal nuts as well... *could be why I really like it?!?!... could be... (FUDC)
Today and everyday I celebrate my country, family and friends... I will celebrate those that have fallen for my freedom and ensure their sacrifices will not be forgotten...
For our brothers lost since that dreadful day... I celebrate your life and the fact that you give it all for my family and our nation's freedom...
