Yesterday was a day for our Nation to remember those that were lost 8 years ago. For many this remembrance was a day of sadness, mourning and sorrow. For me, it just made me angry... I was angry 8 years ago and I am just as angry, if not more so, now than ever. Angry about how our country changed that day. Angry for the loss of life, security and for the loss of peace of mind.
Today while walking, listening to my ipod, Toby Keith's "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue" also known as "The Angry American" song came on and chills covered my body. No kidding.. The whole song just brings tears of pride to my eyes.
"My daddy served in the army,
Where he lost his right eye.
But he flew a flag out in our yard 'til the day that he died.
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy in the land of the free."
I know it might sound odd that one would cry to a song about fighting back and not backing down but I do and will for a long time. See, I am a proud ANGRY AMERICAN... It saddens me that so many fail to see or maybe choose not to see what 9/11 really did to our country. How I worry that my children's lives will not be the vision I had just a few years ago. How our government is failing us faster than ever before and so few really care. How our government seems to have FORGOTTEN what happened and even more frightening, they have forgotten WHO DID THIS TO US. And the media... the "news" that never reports the good that is being done, the progress and hope that is being restored to the Middle East. That we are still actively fighting this enemy and soldiers are still dying for our freedom. Instead they report about one soldier who misbehaved.. or one unit that acted inappropriately. I am sick of it personally. What happened to our UNIFIED Country? what happened to fighting this enemy as a country ?? now we just fight each other?
I don't need reminding of 9/11. My family and friends live it everyday.
"Oh, Justice will be served and the battle will rage.
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage
You'll be sorry that you messed with the US of A
'Cuz we'll put a boot in your ass
It's the American way."
This phrase sums up how I feel about the past 8 years... and it happens to be the phrase that pissed of a few liberal nuts as well... *could be why I really like it?!?!... could be... (FUDC)
Today and everyday I celebrate my country, family and friends... I will celebrate those that have fallen for my freedom and ensure their sacrifices will not be forgotten...
For our brothers lost since that dreadful day... I celebrate your life and the fact that you give it all for my family and our nation's freedom...

First day of Preschool and Addison's nine month appointment
09 September, 2009 at 10:16 AM Posted under
Yesterday was a long anticipated first day of preschool for Annabelle. She is attending the same church program as last year but it now in the Blue Two's class! Many of her friends from last year are back but there are two classes of two year olds so half are in one class and half in the other. I was a little worried about how she would react. Some days, she spends 10 minutes crying when I drop her off at hourly care so I was a little worried that she might not take to well to a new class with a new teacher and several new faces. We got there, Addison in tow and off she went! Not a tear in her eye and not even looking back to be honest. I was thrilled that my little girl was confident and independent! She took to Miss Kelley and had to hug and kiss her when I picked her up.. My little lady.. Here are photos from her first day of preschool. Getting ready and excited about it!
Addison had her nine month appointment today and she is just perfect! 75% in weight, 47% in height and the same for head circumference. I wanted to talk to the doctor about formula and how much she should be taking in. In addition I was a little concerned that we were feeding her too much and that she might get fat. Currently she eats an 8 oz bottle in the morning and most nights before bed. At lunch and dinner she eats two 6oz jars of baby food and a baby yogurt. To me, this seems like a lot for a nine month old. The Dr suggested that she eat at least 24oz formula (one more bottle than we give her now) and no more than 2 jars of baby food a day.. He seemed more concerned that she was in the 80% in weight and has dropped to 75%, that some how she might drop down further in the weight department. I am not sure I totally understand his concern?!? I think she is fat and he is worried that she might drop too much weight? He seemed very sleepy during our visit, so maybe he misspoke. I don't know. He did prescribe a liquid vitamin for her so we are going to start that and go from there.
Today we are resting and after that we are going to head to a friends to hang out with her and her son...
That is the update..
Love to you all

Bluegrass Music RV Park!

Hello blogger fans! We just spent a long weekend at the Bluegrass Music RV Park in Franklin Kentucky, just outside Bowling Green Kentucky and wanted to report back...
Personally, I was expecting to have more of an urban camp feel based on this being a previous KOA kampground but I was pleasantly surprised that the camp ground was great! Even though they are going through some renovations and were gearing up for a week long bluegrass music festival the place was really nice, the host(s) were very nice and all in all we were very pleased with this camp ground!
We were rather busy this time camping as well. We spent the first day just unpacking and getting settled in. The weather was really nice so we spent most of our time outside under the trees, listening to music and playing with the girls. We were very close to the playground so Annabelle and John were there often... We were also close to the pool which John and Annabelle spent some of their time there as well. The water was very cold, so Addison and I stayed away! I am NOT a fan of cold water and even more not a fan of being in a bathing suit! We visited a local dive for dinner, per suggestion of the host, and it was really quite good. I think it used to be an old waffle house turned into a "steak house" run by Asian folks.. yes, interesting to say the least but the food was good!
All four of us!! I used the timer but now I have a remote so there will be more photos that I am in as well... I think this is a good thing?!?! hahaha
Addison was fascinated with the lights I hung in the tree above her. This shot she was in her exerciser breaking her neck to see the lights
Our set up. Not the best photo but it shows how we live when RVing.. not bad, I'd say!
The next day we decided to go for a bike ride, Addison in the wagon and Annabelle on the back of my bike (thank you Cerae for the attachment seat!!) We found the info on the green way and set out to find it! After a 20 minutes of driving (the truck) we found what we thought was the green way and unloaded... 1.5 miles later, we finished our green way bike trek, seeing more homeless folks than miles on our bike we packed up and looked else where.. we found another park with trails and again, set off.. This time we found more to travel on and a great park for Annabelle to play on mid way... They have two great dog parks too!! This is right on the Western KY U campus.. it was nice... After our ride we decided to find some place to eat.. we looked again to our info and found Chaney's dairy farm that had a small but interesting menu for lunch... *bonus homemade ice cream* Worried that it might be out of business or really be a dump we drove into the farm land of KY...
Little did we know, the Corvette museum had a anniversary celebration this weekend and the worry of the farm being out of business was lost when we pulled in to see 25 people outside waiting, all with a smile on their faces and ice cream... Must be good so we decided to stay and see for ourselves.. 45 minutes later we have our sandwiches and chips and see why this place is so popular. The food was good but the ice cream, amazing!! Annabelle got strawberry. John, How Now Brownie Cow (chocolate ice cream with chunks of brownies) and I got Code Red (white chocolate ice cream with red velvet cake and chocolate chunks) It was great... After we wiped ourselves down we headed back to our camp site. John and Annabelle played in the pool while Addison slept and I prepared dinner... Buffalo blue cheese burgers and french fries... Annabelle LOVED the buffalo burger!! amazingly enough... And we'll be having this meal again!
The next day, Sunday, we decided to do the tour of the Lost River Cave. Not thinking that it would be an issue, we signed up, went to do lunch durning our 1.5 hour wait, yes, it was that long and returned for our exploration. Annabelle was excited.. as was I to be honest. I love caving and was really jonesing to go. We listened to the story of the blue hole and all the folk lore that went along, walked down to the cave and got ready for our boat ride. Yes folks this is a boat ride inside a cave.. how cool... right?? well, we figured they would make Annabelle wear a life jacket but had no idea they would make me take Addison off me (she was strapped to me in the becco baby carrier) and require her to be in a nasty smelly baby life jacket. I was not pleased but that was nothing compared to how Addison felt about it. She wore the jacket for the first 10 minutes, John not letting me take the jacket off her .... that was until he had her for a few minutes and off the jacket came! Instantly, she was quiet.. Most of the others on the boat were very understanding and felt bad for Addison... Who knows about the others.. To be honest, even if Addison hadn't screamed for 1/2 the time and the fact that it was free for John and 25% off for the rest of us, it wasn't worth the money nor the time. This from a caver so if you are a novice caver, you might enjoy it more.

Mommy, Annabelle and Addison waiting for our trip to begin
Annabelle and daddy ready to go!
This photo tells it all.. ADDISON WAS NOT DIGGING THE CAVE TRIP!!! hahahaa
After caving we ate on the go and headed to Jackson's Orchard, again I found this on our tourist info sheet. It looked interesting and the though of fresh fruit and veggies was too tempting for me to pass up. We made our way and found that apparently everyone reads those tourist info things because this place was packed too! They had tons of apple trees, pumpkins to pick, ice cream, caramel apples, fried peach pies, vegetables, fruits... I can go on and on... John and Annabelle split a caramel apple, Addison and I split a fried peach pie! it was yummy, reminded me of my grandma Johnson's pies... I walked and shopped while John and Annabelle went out to the play ground. The playground had those huge tube like slides, made with some kind of underwater tube stuff cut in half, so it is open on the top. Well, she had a ball. That is until she went down on the burlap sack, making her go faster and she spun around, ended up backwards and fell off the end onto her head. John was on top and I was inside so some other mommies came to her rescue. Just ask her about it, she'll tell you all about how she went "bam! on her head off the big slide" she is ok. no worries. We got three bags of apples, they are all delicious and headed back to the camp site.
Monday, we packed up and headed home. Thinking this would be uneventful... John started off and I stopped for gas, just outside the camp ground. I literally had 15 mile range on my gage so there was no option to not stop. I get out to pump the attendant tells me they have no power and therefor I can not pump gas?!?! OMG... That there is no power in town and no one can pump gas.. I have both girls, John has already headed down the interstate so I am worried. I call John just to tell him that I will probably be late as there is no gas and I am going to have to just sit and wait and he decides to check the exits south of me to see if they have power. The first exit past, no power. The second exit has power but it is 12 miles away.. remind you, I have a range of 14 miles on my readout (minus one mile from sitting and waiting) I decide to go for it. I drove 55 miles per hour down the road and made it with 5 miles to go on my readout. THAT was NOT fun... but we made it and I was so thankful John was ahead of me to help!
We are home now, rested and trying to get back on schedule. I will attach some photos for your enjoyment. I will post more about Annabelle's first day of preschool but that might be tomorrow or Thursday..
Love to you all and please pray for our families of fallen as well those fighting the fight each day !!
Carolyn
